InvoiceNow

InvoiceNow is Singapore’s national e-invoicing network. Instead of emailing a PDF, a business sends its invoice as structured data over the Peppol network, and the customer’s accounting software reads it directly. IRAS, the tax authority, is making it a requirement for GST-registered businesses in phases. This page says what easySales does about it today. It is a product overview, not tax advice.
How it fits together
Section titled “How it fits together”Today easySales does the first path only:
- It issues a tax invoice that carries the fields Singapore GST requires, such as your GST registration number, the tax charged at each rate and the customer’s details.
- It gives you the invoice as a PDF, which you download and send to your customer yourself.
- It records your company’s InvoiceNow date, if you enter one.
easySales does not send invoices over the Peppol network. It has no InvoiceNow or Peppol connection, and it does not export Peppol files. If your customers or IRAS require the structured route, you need a separate InvoiceNow-ready service for that step.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”- IRAS is phasing in the GST InvoiceNow requirement for GST-registered businesses. Under it, a business sends the invoice data of the sales and purchases it reports in its GST return to IRAS through an InvoiceNow-ready solution. Its other GST duties, including the invoicing requirements, stay as they are.
- The start date depends on how and when your business registered, and for existing businesses on their annual supplies. The table below is IRAS’s published timeline; check IRAS for the current dates and for which of your supplies are in scope.
- In easySales, open System settings → Tax → Edit company & tax and, if you have a date from IRAS, enter it under E-invoicing applies from (InvoiceNow). easySales only records this date. It does not send anything.
| From | Who |
|---|---|
| 1 November 2025 | Newly incorporated companies that register for GST voluntarily within six months of incorporation |
| 1 April 2026 | Businesses that apply to register for GST voluntarily on or after this date |
| 1 April 2028 | Businesses that apply for compulsory registration on or after this date, and existing businesses with annual supplies up to S$200,000 |
| 1 April 2029 | Existing businesses with annual supplies up to S$1,000,000 |
| 1 April 2030 | Existing businesses with annual supplies up to S$4,000,000 |
| 1 April 2031 | Existing businesses with annual supplies above S$4,000,000 |
IRAS measures annual supplies over the accounting periods ending in 2025.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- An invoice issued in easySales is still a valid GST tax invoice. InvoiceNow is a different way of delivering invoice data, not a different invoice.
- When an invoice has more than one tax rate, its PDF prints one tax row per rate, and those rows add up to the printed total tax to the cent. See Tax and rounding.
- easySales will not tell you whether your business is in scope. IRAS decides that.
- InvoiceNow — Singapore’s e-invoicing network, built on Peppol.
- Peppol — an international network and standard for sending invoices as structured data.
- Tax invoice — the invoice a GST-registered business must issue; see GST and tax invoices.
Why it works this way
Section titled “Why it works this way”The PDF stays the invoice your customer receives. InvoiceNow changes how invoice data reaches IRAS and your customer’s software; it does not replace your tax invoice. Issuing a complete tax invoice in easySales keeps your billing, your receivables and your customer’s records in step, whichever route the data takes afterwards.
The date is yours to record because only IRAS can decide it. Whether and when the requirement applies depends on your registration and your supplies, which IRAS confirms. Keeping the date with your tax settings means everyone who manages them sees it in one place.
Tax rows that add up survive the move to e-invoicing. An e-invoice is checked by software, which rejects a document whose tax rows do not add up to its total tax. easySales already prints figures that pass that test, so the data you pass to an InvoiceNow-ready service matches the PDF exactly.
Work faster
Section titled “Work faster”- Record the date once. Enter it under E-invoicing applies from (InvoiceNow) in Edit company & tax, so whoever manages your tax settings can see it. See Company and tax.
- Copy the figures from the issued invoice. The issued invoice’s subtotal, tax per rate and total are fixed, so what you send through another service matches what you sent the customer. See Invoice PDF.
- Export to your accounting software. If your accounting software sends InvoiceNow invoices, Accounting export brings your easySales invoices into it as a file.
- Download the PDF from the invoice. PDF at the top of the invoice opens it with Download beside it, ready to save and attach to your email. See Invoice PDF.
Examples
Section titled “Examples”Lim & Co is GST-registered and bills Harbour Café SGD 1,090.00, which is SGD 1,000.00 plus GST of SGD 90.00. Mei Tan issues the invoice in easySales, downloads the PDF and emails it to the café. That is a complete tax invoice.
If Harbour Café’s accountant asks for the invoice over InvoiceNow, easySales cannot send it that way. Mei asks her accountant which InvoiceNow-ready service to use, and sends the invoice through that service with the figures from the issued invoice.
Recording the date. Lim & Co’s accountant confirms the date from which the requirement applies to the firm. Daniel Lim opens System settings → Tax → Edit company & tax, enters it under E-invoicing applies from (InvoiceNow) and saves. Nothing else changes in easySales: invoices are issued and sent as PDFs as before.
Common questions
Section titled “Common questions”- Is InvoiceNow compulsory in Singapore? It is being phased in for GST-registered businesses, starting with new voluntary registrants; existing businesses follow from 1 April 2028 by annual supplies. Check IRAS for the date that applies to you.
- Can easySales send invoices through InvoiceNow or Peppol? No. easySales issues GST tax invoices as PDFs and has no Peppol connection; use an InvoiceNow-ready service for that step.
- Is an invoice from easySales still a valid tax invoice? Yes. InvoiceNow is a way of delivering invoice data; the tax invoice itself still comes from easySales. See GST and tax invoices.
- Where do I enter my InvoiceNow date? Under System settings → Tax → Edit company & tax, in E-invoicing applies from (InvoiceNow). easySales only records it. See Company and tax.
- Does InvoiceNow cover purchases too? Under the GST InvoiceNow requirement, IRAS asks for the invoice data of both sales and purchases reported in the GST return. easySales handles neither.
