Edit an issued invoice
After you issue an invoice, the facts of the charge are locked, but you can still correct reference details. Use this page to know which is which.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”You need Invoice Edit on the invoice. A voided invoice cannot be edited at all.
- Open the issued invoice.
- Select Edit in the ··· menu.
- Change the details that are still open: the Invoice name, Customer PO number, Terms and conditions, Remark and your company’s own custom fields.
- Select Save changes.
What happens next
Section titled “What happens next”The invoice keeps its number, status and amounts. Each change is recorded on the History tab with who made it and when, and the next PDF you preview shows the new details.
Rules to know
Section titled “Rules to know”- Locked after issue: the Contact (and so the account), Currency, Invoice date, Due date, tax, the linked quotation, the exchange rate and every line.
- To change what the invoice charges, issue a credit note — or void the invoice if none of it should stand.
- The salesperson is changed with Change Owner in the ··· menu, not in the edit form.
- The customer name and address printed on an issued invoice are the ones it was issued with. Editing the account later does not change them.
