A password alone can be guessed, reused or phished. A passkey or an authenticator app takes about two minutes to add, and from then on a stolen password is not enough to open your customers’ records.

  1. Open your menu, select My profile, then Sign-in & security.
  2. Add a passkey. On the Passkeys card, select Add a passkey, give it a Name such as “Work laptop”, select Continue and unlock it with your fingerprint, face or device PIN.
  3. Or use an authenticator app. Beside Two-step verification, select Turn on, scan the QR code with an app such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator, and type the 6-digit Code from the app. Without a smartphone, select No smartphone? Use email codes instead.
  4. Save your recovery codes. When easySales shows the ten codes, select Copy or Download .txt, keep them away from your password, tick I have saved these codes and select Done.
  5. Add the other one too. A passkey and an app together mean that losing one device never locks you out.

From the next sign-in, select Sign in with a passkey on the sign-in page, or type the code from your app after your password.

A passkey works only on the real easySales site, so it cannot be typed into a fake page or read out over the phone. A code from your phone proves the sign-in is yours even if your password leaks. Recovery codes cover the day your phone is lost: each one works once in place of a code.

Mei Tan turns on two-step verification with Microsoft Authenticator on her phone and saves the ten recovery codes in her password manager. She then adds a passkey named “Work laptop”. The next morning she selects Sign in with a passkey, touches the fingerprint reader and is in, with no password to type. If the laptop is ever lost, her phone app still gets her in, and she removes the laptop’s passkey.

  • Should I use a passkey or an authenticator app? Both, if you can. A passkey is the fastest and cannot be phished; the app gives you a second way in on any computer.
  • What if I lose my phone and my recovery codes? Contact your company’s administrator, who can reset your two-step verification so you can set it up again.
  • Do I need two-step verification to connect an AI assistant? Where your company offers it, yes. Connecting an app asks for a code or your passkey. See Connect Claude or ChatGPT to easySales.
